How to use this tool

  1. 1Click the upload area or drag your PDF file onto it.
  2. 2Choose the quality setting: Standard (72 dpi, smaller files, faster) or Higher quality (144 dpi, larger files, sharper).
  3. 3Click 'Convert to JPG'. Each page is rendered and shown as a preview.
  4. 4Download individual pages by clicking the 'Download' button under each preview, or click 'Download all' to save every page at once.

Example

Extract page 3 from a 20-page report

Upload the report PDF, choose Standard quality. All 20 pages render. Click 'Download' under page 3's preview. You get a JPG of that single page, ready to paste into a presentation or email.

Convert a scanned PDF to high-quality images for editing

Upload the scanned PDF, choose Higher quality (144 dpi). The resulting JPGs are sharp enough to read and edit in image software. Standard quality may appear blurry for scanned documents.

Common use cases

  • Extracting a specific page from a PDF report to insert into a presentation as an image
  • Converting a scanned PDF document page to a JPG for editing in an image editor
  • Sharing a single page from a PDF brochure or portfolio on social media
  • Converting a PDF invoice or receipt page to a JPG for embedding in a spreadsheet
  • Extracting pages from a PDF manual to create individual help images

Common mistakes

  • Using Standard quality for scanned documents or small-print text - at 72 dpi, fine text in scanned PDFs may appear blurry. Use Higher quality for sharper results.
  • Expecting large PDFs to convert instantly - each page is rendered individually. A 50-page PDF may take 30-60 seconds on a mobile device.
  • Uploading password-protected PDFs - the tool cannot open encrypted PDFs. Remove the password in a PDF application before uploading.
  • Expecting vector sharpness from a raster conversion - converting to JPG rasterises the page. Text will look slightly softer than in the original PDF at high zoom levels.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?

No. PDF rendering happens entirely in your browser using Mozilla's open-source PDF.js library. Your files never leave your device.

Why do some PDFs look blurry after conversion?

Standard quality uses 72 dpi, which is fine for most screen use. For documents with small text, detailed diagrams, or scanned content, switch to Higher quality (144 dpi). It produces larger files but significantly sharper images.

Can I convert password-protected PDFs?

No. The tool cannot open encrypted or password-protected PDFs. Remove the password protection first using a PDF application that supports encryption management.

How many pages can I convert?

All pages are converted automatically. There is no hard page limit, but very large PDFs (100+ pages) may take longer and require more device memory. For large documents, give the browser a few minutes to process.

Can I download all pages at once?

Yes. After conversion, use the 'Download all' button to download all pages. Each page is saved as a separate JPG file named with the original file name and page number.

What resolution are the output JPGs?

Standard quality renders at 72 dpi (screen resolution). Higher quality renders at 144 dpi, which is suitable for most print uses up to A5 size. For large format print, you would need a dedicated PDF-to-image converter with higher DPI settings.

Can I convert to PNG instead of JPG?

Currently the tool outputs JPG only. JPG is suitable for most use cases. For images that need a transparent background or lossless quality, a desktop PDF editor with PNG export would be needed.
